With so many of our Black men being recycled through the criminal justice system here in Dane County, and our men that are removed from access to opportunities, we have developed training and programs to enrich the lives of our Black men. We are able to do this through our partnerships with other local Black-led organizations.
Vocational Training and Career-Path Program
This program provides Black men with basic academic, life, and social skills, case management, career-specific training, practicum, internships, job placement, and ongoing support services. The program is completely free and available to all Black low- and moderate-income men in Dane County. It is designed to provide a career path for unemployed individuals, under-employed adult workers, and individuals seeking a career change to improve their economic condition, stabilize their financial situation, and/or facilitate their dreams and goals.
Computer Training Program
two computer programs for our Black men that need basic computer skills necessary in business as well as our Black men interested in a career in information technology (IT). These opportunities serve both to increase access to technology, as well as transitioning our underserved men into financially sound IT careers as part of our Career-Path Program. This program provides instruction in the hardware and software often used in business, including Microsoft Office products, Google Suite, and Adobe products. For those interested in an IT career, we have programmers that will provide instruction around the basics of coding, including SQL, HTML, and other coding languages used in web development, servers, etc.
